CAITLIN ELLEDGE

They/Them

Caitlin Elledge is the Artistic Director and choreographer for X-Contemporary Dance and a freelance dance instructor and choreographer. Caitlin grew up in Southern Mississippi, and began dancing at the age of 3. They trained in the Vaganova Method under the direction of Henry Danton (Royal Ballet, Sadlers Wells), and Yvonne Bergeron (New Orleans Ballet). Caitlin has performed roles such as "Swanilda" from Coppelia,"Pas de Trois" from Swan Lake, and a multitude of other soloist and principal roles, including "Aurora" from Sleeping Beauty and "Sugarplum Fairy" from The Nutcracker. At the age of 16, Caitlin moved to Nashville to further a career and education in classical ballet. Caitlin then danced for 3 years at Nashville Ballet, performing roles such as "Peasant Pas" from Giselle, "Pas de Trois" from La Bayadere, and "Waltz of the Flowers" in Paul Vasterling's "Nashville's Nutcracker". During their time with Nashville Ballet, Caitlin had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Chris Stuart (Nashville Ballet), Paul Vasterling, and Victoria Simon (Balanchine Trust).

Caitlin then decided it was time to steer away from the ballet world to focus on modern and contemporary dance, while still freelancing and guest performing soloist and principal roles for ballet schools.

Caitlin has had the joy of choreographing for VUPointe Ballet Company at Vanderbilt University, and also dance with Blue Moves Modern Dance. These opportunities inspired them to create XCD, and their journey through dance has made them passionate about the health and well-being of dancers. Caitlin hopes that through this work with XCD, they will help lead the next generation of dancers to a more well-rounded and healthy way of achieving their dreams, and hopefully create a more diverse and inclusive dance world.
