Danielle Liu is a Florida native who began training in dance at age 12. She grew up performing in ballet, jazz, and contemporary productions and also competed solos, duos, and group dances at local competitions. She trained in summer intensives at Florida State University, the Joffrey Ballet, and Champaign Urbana ballet, and at numerous workshops with ballet masters such as Suzanne Farrell and leaders in commercial dance such as Galen Hooks, Victor Smalley, and Angel Armas. In college, she continued performing solos, pas de deux, and group dances in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Swan Lake, and Alice in Wonderland in Vanderbilt University’s student-run organization VUPointe Ballet Theatre. She also began to stretch her creativity by choreographing solos and pas de deux on VUPointe dancers. In May 2020, she graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. She is so excited to join X-Contemporary Dance and grow as an artist. Outside of dance, she plans to pursue a career in designing and building devices that improve management of movement disorders.
