Originally from Fort Payne, Alabama, Katey Fleming is a 2020 graduate from Troy University with a B.F.A. in Dance and a minor in Psychology. She has had the privilege to train under a diverse faculty: Dominque Angel, James Boyd, Dante Puleio, and Thang Dao. TROY has also
offered her the opportunity to experience master classes with numerous artists in residence, a favorite of whom was Edward Villella. In the summer of 2018, she attended the Perry-Mansfield intensive in Steamboat Springs Colorado, where she worked with Chris Chompton, Tammy Chompton, Peter Chu and his company Chuthis. She choreographed her first piece, Silence, which was inspired by the silence that often surrounds the topic of human trafficking. Her piece, Silence, was performed in Troy University’s production Art in Motion, the Contemporary Dance Choreography Festival in Orlando Florida, at the Alabama Dance Festival in Birmingham Alabama, and at Unified Rhythms in Jacksonville Fl. In July 2019 she worked with the United Ballet Theater as an Executive Assistant intern and accepted the position of Assistant Director with Art in Flight, INC. based out of Jacksonville Florida. In the fall of 2019, she participated in the LimónPro college program with the Limón Modern Dance Company in New York City. In the Fall of 2020, she excepted the position of Director with Art in Flight, Inc.
